Policy & Advocacy

Policy and Advocacy

Resourceful Communities engages grassroots leaders in state level policy and funding initiatives that helps grow local and state level support for alternative approaches to economic development and environmental protection.  This engagement helps ensure that funding is accessible to low-wealth families, communities of color and minority-run grassroots causes. RCP is convening grassroots leaders, conservation and community development leaders, elected officials and state agency leaders to educate, develop strategies and generate support for advancing “triple bottom line” approaches to rural sustainable economic development.

Project Spotlight

Resourceful Communities has helped partners establish NC's first community forest on a 532-acre parcel in Hoke County. Community forestry engages local partners in planning, management and stewardship. Adjacent to forestlands with the second largest US population of the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker, this community forest will restore habitat and provide economic, recreational and educational opportunities and more.
