Resourceful Communities partners from across North Carolina gathered at the eleventh annual Grassroots Convening in May 2007 to share, learn and enjoy.
Partner input shaped this year's offerings. Participants explored youth involvement and leadership development with an expert panel. Practitioners and resource professionals shared information and ideas on a variety of issues -- sustainable forestry and agriculture projects, alternative energy, conservation based affordable housing, heritage tourism and entrepreneurship.
This year's gathering featured a Partner Showcase where folks could learn about innovative efforts in our rural communities. We enjoyed connecting with many familiar faces and new. One participant noted, "I'd never met anyone from the mountains!"
Partners joined in stories and song with Miss Connie B and enjoyed delicious meals featuring sustainably grown NC produce provided by Eastern Carolina Organics.
