GrassRoots Convening 12

GRC 12 Youth Engagement Workshop

Resourceful Communities partners from across North Carolina gathered at the twelfth annual Grassroots Convening in September 2008 to re-connect, learn and engage.

Sustainability

Spaulding Monroe Alumni AssociationThis year’s convening focused on sustainability, providing our partners with opportunities to learn about keeping their organizations strong now and in the future. More than 90 community leaders attended and participated in skills-building sessions around leadership transition, youth engagement and board development. Participants also explored time, treasure and talent in our communities – how giving circles support local efforts.

Peer Connections

At the gathering attendees share experiences and lessons learned with peers they often don’t see because of proximity. As one participant said, “The gathering always reminds me that I’m not alone. It’s all about the connections!”

Miss Connie BEnjoying

Partners joined in stories and song with Miss Connie B and enjoyed delicious meals featuring locally grown NC produce.

Project Spotlight
Resourceful Communities is working with partners to establish NC's first community forest on a 532-acre parcel in Hoke County.

Community forestry engages local partners in planning, management and stewardship. Adjacent to forestlands with the second largest US population of the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker, this community forest will restore habitat, provide economic opportunities and more.
